Dressing window fronts for Christmas has always been a massive pull, whether you are Harrods of London or a small retailer who has pulled in footfall thanks to the secrets of local seo.
In a year of ‘being contactless’, window dressing is ever more important to not only draw attention and increase sales, but also potentially drive INSTANT SALES!
This year, QR Codes are all around us.
We’ve checked in at venues to say ‘I’m here, let me eat with my family’.
We’ve scanned to fill in forms. We’ve scanned to do this that and the other.
QR Codes are no longer something odd that we see on the bottom of products that we’ve got no idea about, they are everyday and that we know what to do with. …

The purpose of this video is merely to highlight, for a bit of fun, that WISH sells a ton of crap, and whilst it’s IPO information published today (7.12.20) says they want to raise over $1.1Bn …

I started writing over on SEO Andy, my blog & where my business lives, 15 years or so ago. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I sucked.
15 Years on, I want to share with you why today I am mainly writing here on Medium. Why I am writing more each day, why I also reading more and listening more too.

Movember is over, I can shave again… Where do I turn?
Harry’s — which is sat there with its orange handle, or
My Philips All-in-One (which recently replaced the OneBlade)?
The reality is I love my beard!
I can go for months and not shave it off entirely.
But when I find the want or need I love nothing better than that smooth feeling.
I should in theory by a great customer for Harry’s. I am the kind of person who shaves at 9am and by lunch has a 5 o’clock shadow, a wet shave with it’s smooth feeling and closer shave reduces this at least for a day… a dry shave its almost instant stubble an hour later (it’s never close enough!). …
Lets be honest, where would we be without online shopping this year?
Who can honestly say that they haven’t shopped online, whether it’s for food, or a gift for someones birthday?
I can’t say it’s a big surprise that the ONS found a 30% rise in online shopping in the UK compared to 2019 in September. But what is more surprising is that stats from Google around what people were searching for in September!
There was a 32% increase YoY in people searching for “Christmas Trees”
26% increase in “Christmas Stocking” searches, and 32% for “Christmas Decorations” …
But thats not all… check out these search…
66% of shoppers are intending to shop more locally since the covid-19 pandemic a Google Study has revealed. With this INCREASING to 74% during the christmas period as shoppers seek to avoid crowds of people, another Google Study found.
Local SEO is about unlocking not only the potential of those “shopping more locally”, but also tapping into those who were already shopping locally.
The above search data shows the increasing trend over the past 5 years for searches globally including the term “near me” — these local searches year on year grow hugely with one study suggesting that from 2018/19 to 2019/20 they almost doubled as Google continued to double down on it’s mobile first approach. Even with the current pandemic, this isn’t something that has reduced, and with the data from the Google Studies we know that these searches are only going to increase as time goes on — making local search ever more important. …
Writing on Medium isn’t like writing for other website and platforms. Indeed if you’ve got a blog and figured out how to rank highly on Google — this is completely different. Or if you’ve written for a publication online or offline and realised how to gain huge amounts of engagement with those audience… then I am sorry to say this again is different.
There are some similarities, of course there are.
I won’t pretend that I have the perfect strategy, I don’t think anyone ever should.
Mediums algorithm is always changes, evidence of this can be seen in the way it changed its payment model to partners last year.
